Finance your cabin dream with rental income.

Four good reasons to rent out your cabin

1

A smart move to achieve your cabin dream!

Rental income can help cover expenses such as loans, electricity, and maintenance, or provide extra funds for new upgrades. By renting out actively, in many cases, the income can cover all the costs associated with owning a cabin!

2

Better utilization

When you're not using the cabin yourself, it can bring joy to others instead of sitting empty for much of the year.

3

Tax benefits

In Norway, you can rent out tax-free up to 15,000 NOK per year. Above this amount, you pay 22% tax on 85% of the income. This means that if you rent out for 100,000 NOK per year, the tax would only be 18,700 NOK.

4

Cabin and vacations – yes, please, both!

By renting out the cabin for part of the year, you not only afford a cabin but also gain the freedom to enjoy life beyond it. With lower costs, you can still take your annual trip to the south or a spontaneous getaway to London – without feeling guilty that the cabin is sitting empty!

When you share the cabin with others, you not only earn extra income but also give others the opportunity to create wonderful memories in a place you love.

How much can you earn by renting out your cabin?

Renting out your cabin can be highly profitable, especially in popular areas like Gautefall, Risør, and Tvedestrand. To give you a realistic picture of the income potential, we’ve spoken with several of our customers and gathered valuable insights on rental opportunities:

Many of the people we've spoken with, both in the mountains and by the sea, rent out their cabin for about 20 weeks a year—a combination of full weeks, long weekends, and weekends.

Some also believe the potential is even higher if they choose to rent out more of the weeks they would otherwise use themselves. This provides a flexible income source that can be tailored to your needs!

Rytterspranget at Gautefall

In this popular mountain area, you can earn from 12,000 NOK per week for a three-bedroom cabin, and up to 22,000 NOK per week for a larger cabin with five bedrooms. At Gautefall, demand is high throughout the year, with extra willingness to pay during the ski season and holidays. During these periods, you can significantly increase your earnings—and make your cabin investment even more profitable!

Øysang in Risør

At Øysang, you can earn between 12,000 NOK per week for a smaller cabin with three bedrooms and up to 20,000 NOK per week during the summer months for a larger cabin. The area is highly attractive for summer rentals, making June, July, and August the most lucrative months. Weekends in May and September, as well as holiday weeks, are also popular periods.

Sørlandsleia in Tvedestrand

Renting out your cabin at Sørlandsleia can be very profitable, especially in the summer. A five-bedroom cabin can bring in up to 25,000 - 28,000 NOK per week in June, July, and August. Weekends in May and September, as well as holiday weeks, are also popular rental periods. In the winter months, some choose to rent to craftsmen and long-term tenants. Although the rental price is somewhat lower, this ensures a stable income during periods when the cabin would otherwise remain unused.

Note that rental prices and demand can vary based on amenities—access to a boat or jacuzzi can significantly increase the price—as well as location and personal effort. We hope this provides a good indication of the income potential!
